With the summer sun burning as brightly as ever, I thought it was time to make contact with you again, share some of the things I have been doing over the last few weeks – and, of course, wish you well as we move from August into September.

For me, summer is a time to reconnect with family and friends, and every year I travel back to my family home in the Czech Republic. What could be better than spending time with those you love – talking; laughing; sharing experiences and ideas? While there, I visited the beautiful town of Cesky Krumlov, and spent a glorious afternoon in the art gallery at the foot of the castle.

The gallery has an impressive collection of contemporary art, and I found one piece especially enchanting. The Czech Republic is famous for its fine art glass, and this particular piece was so simple and elegant it was quite moving. It actually reminded me of a current European fashion vogue – clean, lines, beautiful symmetry, and simple details. It’s almost architectural in style, but if you look closer, you’ll also see exquisite depth and beauty.

It’s a concept that is also true of the creativity process behind branding and marketing. And, being passionate about creating strong brands with simple, engaging communications, it’s something that is always at the front of mind when I’m working on a project.
